I have just redone the bathroom in my beach house and am looking for a fish mirror to hang over the 4 foot vanity instead of a medicine cabinet. Doe anyone have any advice as to where I can find one?
Thank you

Hi

Just read your post on getting a fish mirror for the bathroom. Great idea. A lot of people have a hard time finding a decor mirror big enough for the bathroom. So here is an idea for you. My company sells whitewash set of five fish on a string carved out of wood (http://www.kahunabay.com.au/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=76). I don't know where you can get these in the US. I will ship to the USA but its about $25AU for shipping.

Anyways here is what you do. You cut the fish off the string. You can then use a hot glue gun or liquid nails in clear. I don't like super glue as I find things often don't hold. If you are using an ordinary bathroom mirror- like a square thats ok. Then make sure you leave room around the mirror to add a wood border. Measure the sides.

Ply Border
Go to your local hardware store. Get pieces of thin ply with (so its not too heavy for your glue) at least a three inch width. Glue around the mirror.

Paint Border
Tape off your mirror if your not neat! Then grab a sample pot of antique white paint. With a thick and wide brush, brush on white paint or do another beach colour like a light blue or green. You could even be bold and go for a red!

Glue on Fish
Now your border is dry you can have fun. Take the wooden fish and with your hot glue gun dab a bit of glue on the back of the face and tail. Press and hold in place for 20 seconds. Sometimes I have also glued on pebbles in between the fish. This looks great too. But trust me from experience keep it simple. Don't glue on too many shells or too many pebbles. Keep it to one colour. Use wood fish instead of ceramic. They look better!

Hope this helps :-) Happy beach decorating. If you'd like more ideas check out my blog (http://www.cocokahuna.wordpress.com).
